When Jesus came to earth as the promised Messiah, he came with a very specific message to the people: “Peace on earth, and goodwill to men.” Peace is why Jesus came. In the seventh beatitude, Jesus declares, “Happy are the peacemakers” and then adds, it is the peacemakers that will be identified as God’s own. 

Questions For Meditation

  1. Why is peacemaking hard work? 
  2. How do we get peacemaking wrong sometimes? 
  3. What happens when we attack or settle for fake peace instead of God’s peace? 
  4. What is the reward of peace? 
  5. Why is peace so satisfying? 
  6. Think about your life. Are there any relationships that you need to restore and repair?
