Who We Are
If you are new to Advance, we can’t wait to meet you! We are a group of young adults who love Jesus and who love people – no matter who you are or what your background is. Our heart is to connect people to our church family and to grow in our love for God together.
Advance Community Groups meet at different locations around Chicago for the sole purpose of connecting and building community. These gatherings take place every other Saturday. We would love for you to join us at any of our Community Groups–simply choose a group below, sign up online and we will see you there!
We have several different types of community groups available for you to engage with:
Discussion Groups: Each time we meet, we gather together around a meal or coffee to connect and discuss life and the Word. We reflect on the previous Sunday’s sermon and discuss how we can practically apply it to our daily lives. Every month, we visit a new location, so stay tuned for where we may be next month!
Active Groups: Active groups are monthly gatherings where all of the young adults get together to get out and do something! For the adventure seeker, the creative, and anyone who just wants to do something fun and active. These groups are engaged around different types of activities including competitive sports, performances, creative outlets, etc. Each time we gather, we engage in a new activity, so be sure to sign up for each month!

Pastor David was saved as a young boy, and felt a call to ministry in high school. While attending Moody Bible Institute, his brother invited him to the Chicago Tabernacle, where he began to serve and continue to grow in leadership. During this season of his life, Pastor David encountered God’s presence in a powerful way. He is now married to Susie Stephens, the Early Childhood Director and has 3 young children, Owen, Eden, and Elliot. Pastor David has a desire for all people to encounter God in this way, so they can see the supernatural power of God in their everyday lives.
